Harley Wax FAQs About Wax

How do you break the Harley Hot Wax?

You can use a hammer to gently tap and break the wax. If you do not have one on hand, then we suggest you place the wax brick into a plastic bag and knock it on a hard surface. The wax will break into smaller pieces, which you can then place in your heater.

What is the difference between Harley Hot and Strip Wax?

Strip Wax is designed to be used on larger areas, making use of a paper strip which adheres to the wax before removing it from the skin. Our Strip Waxes not only allow for a quicker more cost-effective waxing treatment, but they also remove hair as short as 1mm directly from the hair follicle – reducing the chance of ingrown hairs and irregular hair regrowth.

We have designed our Hot Wax for use on smaller, more sensitive areas. With the application of Harley Pre-Waxing Oil and the correct application of the wax, any discomfort to the client can be reduced. Hot Wax does not require the use of paper strips -instead, the wax hardens allowing it to be removed directly from the skin.

Where can I use the Harley Film wax?

You can use Film Wax on all areas of the skin, including the larger and the smaller more intimate areas. When correctly applied, the wax can be spread extremely thinly making it a very cost effective for clients who do not wish to use Strip Wax.

Where can I use the Harley Hot Wax?

Hot Wax can be used on smaller, more sensitive areas – such as the face, underarms and genital area.

What should the consistency of Harley Hot and Film Wax be when applied?

All Harley Waxes have been specifically formulated with extremely low melting temperatures to ensure client comfort. Once the wax is melted it should be a honey-like consistency when applied to the skin. Test the wax on the inside of your wrist to make sure it is at a comfortable temperature.

When loading the wax onto your spatula, you should be able to turn it two or three times to have a good dollop on the top that doesn’t run off if you stop twirling the spatula. If the wax drips while you twirl – it is too hot. If it creates threads when you turn the spatula, it is too cool.

Which Harley Wax do you recommend for sensitive skin?

All our Harley Waxes are designed to be used on sensitive skin, as our products are made with some of the highest-quality natural raw ingredients.

We do, however, advise that our waxes containing Titanium Dioxide are particularly good for extra sensitive skin. Titanium Dioxide allows for a more delicate removal process. It reduces irritation and redness while at the same time promoting skin hydration.

Our waxes that contain Titanium Dioxide are as follows: Rose Hot Wax, Chocolate Hot Wax, Azulene Film Wax, Rose Strip Wax and Tea Tree Strip Wax.

Harley Wax FAQs About Wax Heater

Can the Harley Strip Wax container go directly in the heater?

Yes, you can place our Strip Wax tubs directly into a wax heater. The container is a special heat-resistant plastic; therefore, heat will not damage it.

What temperature do I keep the heater at?

As heaters vary vastly on different temperature settings, we do not advise of a specific temperature. Instead, we prefer to advise on achieving the right consistency of wax. The wax should have the consistency of thick paint or honey.

Harley Wax FAQs About Pre & Post Waxing Products

Do I still need to use baby powder and/or corn-starch with your waxes?

Although talc and corn-starch can remove excess moisture from the skin, we do not recommend the use of either these with our waxes. Harley Wax has specially formulated two Pre Waxing products. Our Harley Cleanser/Toner and our Pre-Waxing Oil.

The Cleanser/Toner will not only clean and sterilize the area, but it also removes any excess oil and moisture from the skin. This balances the skin’s PH to allow for a more effective treatment.

Our Pre-Wax Oil, applied with Hot and Film Wax, creates a lipid barrier between the wax and the skin. This further reduces any discomfort felt, while at the same time hydrating the skin prior to the treatment.

In which order do I use the Pre & Post Products?

You should apply the Cleanser/Toner first when using all our waxes: Hot, Strip and Film. This cleans and sterilises the area being waxed. It also balances the PH of the skin, allowing for a more effective wax.

Our Pre-Waxing Oil is to be used after the Cleanser/Toner when using Hot or Film Wax. This oil creates a lipid barrier between the wax and the skin, allowing the wax to “shrink-wrap” the hairs and avoiding contact with the skin. Not only does this allow for less discomfort for the client, but it also hydrates the skin prior to the treatment.

You can use our After Care Products, both our After Wax Oil and Aloe Gel, after all waxing treatments to soothe the skin and assist in reducing any inflammation.

Do I use both the After Wax Oil and Aloe Soothing Gel together?

You can follow up our Aloe Gel up with our After Wax Oil; however, we suggest you opt for one or the other.

Harley Aloe Soothing Gel is best for clients with extra sensitive skin or sensitive areas, as well as for clients that do not wish to have any oily residue left on their skin. The cooling and soothing properties of Aloe Vera makes the Harley Aloe Soothing Gel perfect for calming irritated skin after a wax treatment.

Harley After Wax Oil is preferable when using Strip Wax, as it not only hydrates the skin but also removes any wax residue left on the skin after the treatment. The anti-bacterial properties of Tea Tree combined with the calming properties of lavender will leave your skin feeling conditioned and silky smooth.
